Keeping track of Mileage or Travel Charges

You might want to track your travel on jobs to:

• Keep track of the company's travel costs on a job for your profit margin. 
• Charge the customer for travel on a job. 
• A combination of both! 

We don't have a way to automatically track mileage in Tradify at the moment, but you can enter mileage distance charges or travel time to a Quote, Job or Invoice. 

Instructions

Mileage based on Distance

If you track mileage with a mile or km rate e.g. £0.75 per mile

Or, you have set distance charges, e.g. $30 for travel over 15km 

= use a Price List item. 

Example below of a price list item, tracking a £0.45 cost to your company per mile, and a £0.75 charge for your customer:

Staff can now head to: Job > Costs to enter mileage based on km, or miles. 

You can also enter Mileage as a Price List line item directly on a Quote or Invoice. 

Travel based on Time

If you track track time-based travel costs e.g. $80 an hour

= use a Billing Rate. 

Example below of a billing rate, tracking an estimated $50 cost to your company per hour, and a $80 charge for your customer:

Staff can now head to: Job > Time to enter travel time, or use the Start Timer button on a job to start tracking travel time. 

You can also enter Travel as a Billing Rate line item directly on a Quote or Invoice. 

Using Maps 

If you haven't tracked mileage on your journey to a job, you can look up the distance to a job address using the Tradify app. 

In the Tradify app, open the Job >  Navigate. This should map your journey from your current location to give a distance to the job address.
