Note: In the UK, surcharging is legal for business-to-business transactions, but not for business to consumer transactions. Consumer Rights (Payment Surcharges) Regulations 2012.

Transaction Fees

Transaction fees are as follows:

United Kingdom:

  • 1.7% (Inc VAT) of the amount charged + 0.20 (Inc VAT) for standard cards.
  • 2.1% (Inc VAT) of the amount charged + 0.20 (Inc VAT) for premium cards.
  • 3.45% (Inc VAT) of the amount charged + 0.20 (Inc VAT) for American Express Cards.

Australia:

  • 1.9% (Inc GST) of the amount charged + 0.30 (Inc GST) for Standard AU cards.
  • 3.7% (Inc GST) of the amount charged + 0.20 (Inc GST) for American Express Cards.

Note: The percentage is applied to the full amount your customer pays, not just the invoice total. When you pass the fee on as a surcharge, the surcharge is included in the amount the card is charged, so the surcharge is calculated so that you receive the full invoice total after fees are deducted. For example, a £240.00 invoice paid with a standard card carries a surcharge of £4.35 (1.7% of £244.35 + £0.20), rather than £4.28 (1.7% of £240.00 + £0.20). This is why the surcharge shown on an invoice is slightly higher than the percentage of the invoice total alone.

Fees are comprised of:

  • Merchant Acquiring fees (varies by card type)
  • Payment Gateway fee (varies by volume)
  • Tradify specific service charges

Each month, you'll receive a tax invoice from The Access Group via email detailing your Tradify Card payment transaction fees. No payment is required — fees are automatically deducted when each transaction is processed. If you're GST or VAT registered, you can claim the tax shown on this invoice in your tax return, reducing your overall costs. You'll only receive an invoice for months where card payments were processed.

Processing times for eligible countries

The first payout will be made 7 days after your first payment from a customer. Then subsequent Payouts are made on a 3-day rolling schedule. This delay protects your business, customers, and Tradify from the increased risk of fraudulent activity.

You will be able to view your payouts within the Payouts tab of your Payments Settings on the web version of Tradify.

Take Onsite Payments with Card Payments
